Tash Jordan broke Hertfordshire hearts with a stoppage time winner over Harpenden Town at Preston Park on Saturday.

Harefield opened their account through a Lenny Farhall header just before the break, with Richard Pacquette coming close to doubling their lead soon after.

Centre half Tarik Dallas nodded home the equaliser for Harpenden the other side of half time, leaving the tie finely in the balance for the majority of the second fourty five.

Jordan’s emphatic effort deep into added time gave the Hares an impressive three points in a match that could have swung either way.

The impressive victory got mid-table Harefield back to winning ways against a side that were flying high from a famous win over league leaders Tring Athletic, truly showcasing the ability of anybody beating each other on their day in the Premier Division.

The first half saw little in the way of clear cut chances, with the home side unable to capitalise upon their early pressure in the Harpenden half.

Tash Jordan had a curling effort denied by Alex Desmond between the sticks, before his glancing header from a Sam Shaw corner drifted wide of the far post.

Harpenden came closest to responding near the half hour mark when Harvey Scott’s looping cross was agonisingly too far ahead of captain Chris Blunden.

Lenny Farhall ‘s influential first half, laden with deft touches and running between the lines was capped off with a goal from a directed header, steering home from a deflected Richard Pacquette cross and through the ‘keeper’s clutches.

Pacquette himself came close to extending the lead before the break, with the ex-QPR man latching onto a heavy back pass and directing wide of the post, nestling behind the goal and making the Harefield faithful second guess if they were going into half time two goals to the good.

The Hertfordshire outfit came out the brightest in the second half, with Bobby Dance putting an effort high of the cross bar after fantastic wing play from Ben Quarington- Carter.

As well as some solid saves from Jacob Ballheimer, a goal-saving tackle from Jordan saw Harefield weather a storm of a Harpenden onslaught.

The home side’s impressive defensive display gave way ten minutes into the half, when Harpenden’s October Player of the Month Tarik Dallas nodded home from Harvey Scott’s free kick, a set piece that possibly could have been avoided due to ill discipline.

Just as Harefield could have doubled their efforts after their goal, Harpenden’s Blunden put an effort wide from close range, a great chance to extend their lead and stamp authority on the half.

The Hares’ downfall was evident; fantastic build up play between the forwards had no end product- they needed to start testing Desmond in the goal from range instead of passing their way into the net.

The aforementioned test they needed came courtesy of strikes from Jordan and Shaw, and the following saves made by Desmond were more than worth a mention.

When chances seemed to have been maxed out by the home side, after Luke Baldwin’s cross couldn’t find Pacquette’s head , fantastic footwork by Farhall enabled the striker to make his way into the eighteen yard box.

His lay off found it’s way into the path of Tash Jordan to strike into the top left hand corner with little to no time left on the watch, a goal that truly epitomised a fantastic forward display from the Hares.

Jason Shaw will be proud of his team’s spirited 90+ minutes, capping off a result that was written in the stars, as a 2-1 win was the final score of Harefield’s first ever FA Cup tie, coming against the same opposition.

Both sides can plan ahead for tough competition in the next set of fixtures, with each club facing promotion hopefuls in Oxhey Jets (Harefield United) and Biggleswade United (Harpenden Town) respectively.
